Parallelweg A7 Engelbert
- Blog_field_Dienst Civiele techniek
Commissioned by GEM Meerstad C.V., De Romein Group constructed a parallel road along the A7 between Engelberterweg and Europaweg, near Kuil Banden.
De Romein carried out various tasks to improve the infrastructure of this route. Both freight and regular traffic can now use the new road, reducing traffic pressure on Engelbert.
Our Expertise
We utilize Topcon Magnet for the precise measurement of excavated and processed volumes of soil. Due to the significant amount of peat in the ground, it was impossible to excavate down to the stable sand layer. Therefore, we opted for geotextile beneath the asphalt pavement. For the installation of the retaining wall, we chose a time- and cost-saving work method.

For this project, we carried out the following tasks:
- 150,000 m³ of earth moving
- Installation of 2,500 meters of piping, drainage, infiltration sewers, culverts, and protective sleeves
- Pumping and groundwater lowering
- Installation of 2,000 meters of plastic sheet piling
- Anchoring the sheet piling with steel pipe piles
- Installation of 20 wildlife steps made of recycled plastic
- Foundation with 10,000 tons of mixed granulate
- Installation of 7,500 tons of asphalt pavement
- Installation of 500 m² of concrete paver surfaces
- Installation of directional elements, guardrail structures, and fencing
- Installation of Tensar reinforcement fabric for soil improvement and stabilization
- Installation of cast-in-place concrete structures
- Placement of traffic facilities such as moveable barriers, guardrails, and signage
CO2 & QHSE
Due to the location of this work near the A7 highway, we coordinated with Rijkswaterstaat to implement various traffic measures, including a moveable barrier and guardrails along the roadside.
