MOBILE HARBOUR CRANE INCREASES HANDLING CAPACITY PORT OF EMDEN

The port of Emden has added another milestone. De Romein GmbH has purchased a powerful Gottwald mobile harbour crane for Terminal 2 from EVAG Emder Verkehrs und Automotive Gesellschaft mbH (EVAG for short).
De Romein bought this equipment to increase handling capacity at the port of Emden with its strategic logistics partner EVAG.

CLOSE COOPERATION BETWEEN DE ROMEIN AND EVAG

To this end, De Romein has also expanded the neighbouring site of the former Cassens shipyard. Here, in close cooperation with EVAG, a central hub is being created for handling cable drums in the port of Emden.
These cable drums, weighing up to 90 tonnes, are laid for the renewal of the German power grid to be prepared for the energy transition.

CABLE AND CIVIL ENGINEERING SPECIALIST

As a specialist for cable and civil engineering, De Romein has decided to cooperate with EVAG, a traditional Emden company with more than 100 years of experience in the whole range of port services.
EVAG celebrated its 111th anniversary last year and is a leading service provider for the VW AG Group and for various customers for services in and around the port of Emden.
In 2023, Volkswagen Group Services incorporated EVAG into the VW Group as a wholly owned subsidiary.

MOBILE PORT CRANE IS A GREAT OPPORTUNITY FOR BOTH PARTIES FROM A SALES PERSPECTIVE

Dirk Krauß, Managing Director of EVAG, says: "From a sales perspective, the new crane is a huge opportunity for us. Thanks to De Romein, we now have the ability to load other customers' goods weighing several tonnes. And we very much appreciate the trust De Romein has placed in us."

Robin Meijer, Managing Director of De Romein, added: "From a strategic point of view, it makes a lot of sense for us to source as many logistics services as possible from one source. This increases our flexibility. With EVAG, we have a reliable partner on our side who knows our needs and our business."
