Excavation for the New Eugal Gas Pipeline
For the new gas pipeline Eugal through former East Germany, De Romein has been awarded a portion of the excavation work. This 480-kilometer gas pipeline, running between the Baltic Sea and the Czech border, enhances the natural gas supply in Europe, primarily in Germany.
About the Eugal Gas Pipeline
Eugal spans nearly 500 kilometers from the Baltic Sea through Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and Brandenburg to southern Saxony, and then crosses into the Czech Republic. The construction is divided into 14 lots, each consisting of pairs of sections that have been tendered. De Romein is responsible for the civil engineering for the six southernmost portions of the route, lots 9 through 14.
Execution of Work on the Eugal Gas Pipeline for Lots 9 and 10
For lots 9 and 10 of Eugal, De Romein, commissioned by Streicher, carries out nearly all excavation works. We handle the complete preparation of the route, including the construction of overpasses and access roads, as well as the removal of topsoil. Additionally, we are responsible for backfilling the trench, restoring roads, and fully reinstating the route and surrounding area to its original condition. Our team works on this project from the project office in Kassel-Gölzig, with support from our office in Wiedemar.

Why did the customer choose De Romein?
The main contractor for this project is a consortium of various parties. The contractor awarded us the work because several of the involved parties are familiar with us from past collaborations. In addition to an advantageous price-quality ratio and our specialized expertise, knowledge, and skills, it was also crucial for the customer that we are a flexible organization with short lines of communication. We say what we do, and we do what we say.
Operator Gascade
The operator of the new pipeline will be the German gas transmission company Gascade. This gas transportation company is committed to safe, reliable, efficient, and environmentally friendly gas transport in five Central European countries.
