In January 2020, we, along with our partners, began the construction of the underground cable sections for the new Emden-Ost-Conneforde electricity line. The 5-kilometer long cable operates at a voltage of 380 kV and is divided into two sections, each measuring 2.5 kilometers.

Our Contribution to the New Cable

At the Bredehorn construction site, we dug two trenches. In each trench, we laid six pipes with a diameter of 250 millimeters in a sand bed. We aligned the pipes at a specific distance and welded them together. We then covered the pipes with 20 cm of compacted sand. Additionally, we conducted 36 boreholes. At the construction site in Strackholt, we drilled 13 holes over a total length of 2.5 kilometers across five sections. Upon completion, we connected the five bore sections and divided them into three sections.

Reason for the Construction of the 380 kV High Voltage Line

The new high voltage line makes a significant contribution to the energy transition. An expansion of the network is necessary to transport the electricity generated by wind turbines in Lower Saxony to households and businesses in the region. Moreover, TenneT ensures the continuity of the electricity supply with this expansion.
